Numerous design features combine to form the Superlift "Frame Integrated Technology" (FIT) design concept:
Replacement Steering Knuckles - The stock upper control arms remain in their factory location, while the lower control arms are dropped 5.00" inches. New cast ductile iron knuckles span the increased vertical distance between the upper and lower arms. Superlifts knuckles yield the best possible alignment specifications - they maintain zero degrees of camber and toe angle change throughout the suspension travel cycle. This produces rock-solid drivability traits. The Superlift knuckle design also minimizes CV axle plunge (side-to-side movement) to eliminate the possibility of CV axle disengagement, a problem that still plagues other manufacturers. The Superlift knuckle design accepts the factory spare tire and wheel in an emergency situation.
Integrated High-Clearance, One-Piece Crossmembers and Full-Size Belly-Pan - The interlocking assemblys overall fit is more typical of what is found in the aerospace industry than the automotive aftermarket industry! Countersunk fasteners were chosen to stitch the pan and crossmembers together because of their unmatched strength and rigidity. These components, and the remainder of the systems load-bearing bracketry, are laser cut from 1/4" thick plate steel. The front differential is lowered a full 4.00 inches - that's more than other systems - to reduce CV axle angle and premature axle component wear. Yet, because of the Superlift high-clearance crossmember design, overall ground clearance rivals that of most lift systems on the market today. As an added bonus, front differential structural integrity is not compromised - the differential reinforcement webbing is not cut-away. Plus, the factory front drive shaft is retained.
Compression Travel Control- GM engineers designed the front compression travel stops to engage as soon as the suspension begins to load. The stops actually supplement torsion bar (spring) rate. Most aftermarket manufacturers have not taken this to heart, since their designs allow quite a bit of wheel travel before stop engagement occurs. This is especially true if the torsion bars are adjusted-up for increased lift height; more height creates more space beneath the factory suspension stops. Too much spacing creates a spongy ride, increased body roll and sway, excessive nose-dive when braking, and torsion bar fatigue. Superlift addresses compression travel in two ways. First, Superlift replaces the factory stops with new stops designed specifically for the K1500 series GM 1/2 ton trucks. These new stops, offered only by Superlift, feature a higher compression rate to offset the increased loads generated by wider / heavier tires and wheels, and the rigors of performance driving. Secondly, remember how handling suffers when stop spacing is incorrect? Superlift provides shims that ensure proper stop spacing throughout the 5" to 6" lift height range; this is yet another Superlift exclusive.
The Superlift FIT series lift system installs quick and easy. Also, the vehicle can be returned to stock later, if desired. Superlift offers two rear lift methods for pickups: a 5" tapered block kit or replacement rear spring packs. Please note... Four Superlift Superide shocks are included with this kit!- Gas Front and Hydraulic Rear. As a performance upgrade we offer the same kit with the Superlift / Bilstein high-pressure mono-tube gas-charged shocks. The Superlift / Bilstein upgrade is HIGHLY recommended!
Superlift FIT system... unsurpassed performance, backed by the Superlift Limited Lifetime Warranty, all at a competitive price; this is as good as it gets. Superlift recommends a 35 x 12.50 tire mounted on a 16x8" or 17x8" wide aftermarket wheel with back space not to exceed 4.625" inches. Factory wheels do clear the knuckles, but if oversized tires are used with factory wheels the tire sidewall may rub the upper control arms. Note that because of strength concerns horizontal "Kicker Bars" are mandatory with some competitors lift systems; not so with Superlift's FIT system... these are considered optional items for appearance enhancement only.
