Fox Racing Shox Part # 980-02-024-A Fox Racing Shox have been used on winning off-road racing vehicles since the 1970s. Fox has put over 25 years of off-road racing and shock building experience into these shocks and it shows. The Fox 2.0 series are completely rebuildable and allow for fine tuning which means these shocks are quite possibly the last set youll ever need to purchase for your vehicle. These 8.5" travel shocks include a hose mounted reservoir to allow for extended off-road use without fading. A shock absorber that builds up to much heat will not function properly. As the shock absorber is exposed to exessive heat it will fade and/or fail. If you are experiencing excessive shock failure or fading, it may be time to step up to the performance of a Fox 2.0 series shock absorber, or possibly add another shock. By adding another shock, you are spreading the work load from one shock to multiple shocks. Increased cooling capability will be achieved from the following factors: Decreased Friction: When you use a multiple shock set up, lighter valved shocks can be used which will decrease friction. Increased Oil Capacity: The more oil, the better. Higher oil volumes take longer to heat. Another method of increasing oil capacity is to utilize a remote reservoir or use a larger diameter shock. The additional volume of the reservoir allows the Fox 2.0 shock to maintain a lower and more even operating temperature which allows them to survive under conditions that blow other shocks apart! The exernal reservoir measures 11 inches in length and 2" inches in diameter. And they look GREAT with the addition of the optional billet reservoir clamps - purchased separately!
