Torsion Lift Keys : GM K1500 Series Keys - Provide 1-3" Lift
GM K1500 Series Keys - Provide 1-3" Lift
These Torsion Bar Re-Indexing Keys are designed for use on all 1999-2006 K1500 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup trucks and 1/2 ton 2wd and 4wd 2000-2005 GM fullsize SUVs. This item also fits the 2007 Heritage Silverado & Sierra. This includes the K1500 Silverado and Sierra trucks, the Avalanche 1500, Suburban 1500, Tahoe, and Yukon 1500 sport utility vehicles. These torsion lift keys will provide between 1 and 3 inches of additional lift on a stock height vehicle (depending on setting) and do so without the chance of stripping out the stock adjusting bolt.

A question that many 4wd owners often ask is wont these keys ruin my 4wd driveline? - The simple answer is no. All of the suspension lift kits made by RCD, Rancho, Skyjacker, Superlift, and some new Fabtech kits use a replacement lift knuckle (aka spindle) that increases the operating angles of the front CVs the same amount as a torsion key lift. These suspension lift kits are well respected and have proven to be extremely reliable and are popular with customers. Vehicles with over 100,000 miles have reported no failures due to the slight increase in CV joint operating angle. PLC believes that the small increase in driveline angle is not enough to cause concern among 4wd owners, however a slight increase in CV boot wear is possible and should be watched.

For the 2wd owners this is an EXCELLENT no-brainer upgrade that will help to level out a stock SUV and can also be used to provide an additional 1-2 inches of lift to certain suspension lift kits. These keys work very well to help level the new GM trucks and SUVs that arrive from the factory with a noticeable front to rear rake.

Now the bad news...
The torsion bar lift is inexpensive but it does have one flaw... it reduces the ride quality. It doesn't matter if you replace the keys, adjust the factory torsion bars, there will be some reduction in the smoothness of the suspension. That is quite simply because you are reducing the amount of rebound suspension. It's sort of like walking around with your legs stiff instead of slightly bent at the knee. To help regain some of the lost ride quality we STRONGLY recommend either spacing down your factory shocks or replacing them with the CST shock that we modify for use ONLY on the 4x4 Silverado and Sierra trucks. For some strange reason General Motors uses an odd-ball clevis mount on the lower shock mount. We take the CST Performance Suspension shock and change out the lower mount from a bushing/sleeve loop to the required clevis mount. They aren't cheap but they do provide for a slight increase in ride quality when lifting the vehicle using the torsion bar method.

Replacement front shock absorbers are NOT required when lifting the front up to 2 inches over stock height. However, from a ride quality standpoint PerformanceLifts.com does suggest that customers at the very least space down their stock upper shock mount using large diameter fender washers. A more professional solution is to replace the factory shock with the CST shock we modify for use with the torsion keys. Shocks are not included but are available for purchase separately below. Either method will help prevent a major reduction in ride quality caused by the increased ride height.

Please Note: PerformanceLifts.com strongly recommends getting the vehicle re-aligned after installing these torsion lift keys - failure to do so may lead to premature tire wear and poor handling. The $74.95 price is for a pair of torsion keys (not built or sold by GM) and includes standard ground shipping, no more and no less. A pair (two individual keys, one for the passenger side and one for the driver side) of torsion keys is required to lift the front of one vehicle. These torsion lift keys will NOT fit ANY 1500HD, 2500 light duty or 2500HD / 3500 series GM trucks or 2500 series SUVs!
