People often e-mail PerformanceLifts.com asking what makes
a CST Performance Suspension lift better than another... while the suspension lift
components design and construction speaks for itself, here are a few reasons why
CST continues to be one of the most respected builders of suspension lift kits
available.
Frequently Asked Questions:
The most common CST related question we receive at PerformanceLifts.com
is what do the letters "CST" actually stand for? The CST in CST
Performance Suspension stands for California SuperTrucks. Another
popular question... is CST Performance Suspension and SoCal SuperTrucks
the same company? The answer is no. CST Performance Suspension is a suspension
lift kit and off-road accessory manufacturer. SoCal SuperTrucks is a retailer of
CST Performance Suspension products. The two companies are not owned or operated
by the same individuals.
Performance:
The incredible performance of every California
SuperTrucks Performance Suspension system and component is the end result of an
intense and proven process. The CST Suspension design staff initially analyzes
and critiques a truck's OE suspension system and creates a set of blueprints for
a suspension with enhanced performance. Next, a prototype suspension system is
fabricated as CST technicians turn the blueprints into functional components.
The resulting suspension components are tested for structural integrity at the
California SuperTrucks testing facilities, then each system is installed on a
truck and is monitored for durability, fit, and overall performance during
actual road and off-road tests. After a suspension system meets the stringent
quality and performance requirements it goes into production and becomes part of
the California SuperTrucks lineup. As with
all CST suspension systems, California SuperTrucks' customer service and
technical assistance are second to none. Whether it's suspension tuning advice,
installation tips, information on suspension upgrades, or anything related to
SuperTrucks' suspension systems, they are ready and able to help. California
SuperTrucks sincerely looks forward to serving your performance-truck suspension
needs. All CST suspension systems are covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
Design & Construction:
Quality design and premium construction are
hallmarks of every California SuperTrucks suspension system. For proof, scope
out the precisely fitted, skillfully welded components from our '99-2000 Chevy
Silverado/GMC Sierra SuperTrail S4 system. Note the robust, race-inspired
design, which features triangulation and gussets at critical junctions. Such
performance engineered construction is evident on every suspension
component CST builds, which is why SuperTrucks' suspension systems have received
editorial coverage in magazines such as... Sport Truck, 4x4 Power, Chevy Truck,
Off-Road, and Truckin'.
Included Hardware:
Another terrific aspect of SuperTrucks' suspension systems is the extensive
array of fasteners, brackets, bushings, bumpstops, and spacers which are
included in most suspension packages. CST could cut corners (and cost) by
leaving out some or all of this critical installation hardware, but that's not
California SuperTrucks' style. Every California SuperTrucks system includes
precisely what you'll need to achieve a proper and safe installation. The
fasteners are Grade 8 or stronger and are zinc or gold iridite plated for
corrosion resistance. Most CST control arms also include an easy to maintain
zerk fitting and long-life urethane bushings for the control arms' pivots. This
assures taut and responsive suspension action that rides smooth and remains
squeak free. CST also supplies urethane jounce and/or rebound limiters in most
applications to allow full suspension travel without contact between components.
SuperTrail? SuperPro? What's the
difference?
CST Performance Suspension offers two levels of
suspension systems: The SuperTrail and the SuperPro. To help
better understand the differences between the CST SuperTrail and CST SuperPro
suspension systems you first must ask yourself (and be honest) what kind of
driving conditions do you drive in most? Is the vehicle leased? Is your vehicle
your "baby" and the thought of getting her dirty just makes you
cringe? Once you've established your needs you can decide which system suits you
best.
The SuperTrail S2 is a very popular lift
system for 2WD GM, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota trucks that see occasional off-road
use. These lifts are designed to ride and behave well on the street and are the
easiest and least expensive to install. For 95% of the truck and SUV owners the SuperTrail
S2 and S4 systems are ideal. For those of you that tend to venture off-road more
often and with greater aggression and speed CST offers the SuperPro
series of suspension lift systems. These are radical long-travel suspension
systems for Ford and GM 2WD trucks and SUV's. The SuperPro systems
provide a substantial increase in both wheel travel and off-road performance.
The installation is more difficult and the price is much higher. If you want a
suspension system that can soak up the rough stuff and are willing to pay for
it, the SuperPro series is for you. Regardless of which CST Performance
Suspension series you select it has always been CST's belief that fine-tuning or
upgrading a suspension system is an entertaining and worthwhile endeavor. That's
why they offer all manner of performance-enhancing suspension components. For
the rear suspension most systems include lift blocks and extended length U-bolts
- these provide a stock like ride and are an excellent and inexpensive way to
lift the rear of most vehicles. For those of you with rear coil-spring equipped
vehicles CST has designed a line of coil buckets that keep the stock like ride
and provide sufficient lift to clear larger tires. For those of you that want
the ultimate in performance and strength CST also offers custom lift spring
packs - available for more applications. CST lift systems are also compatible
with a wide range of high-performance shocks, including Rancho's 5-way
adjustable RS9000 series. Some CST systems even utilize race quality coil-over
shocks for truly awesome performance and a look that lets everyone know you mean
business. If you would like to inquire about running a race series performance
shock on your CST lift system please ask... please also understand that
performance shocks like those from King, Fox, Sway-A-Way and Bilstein can
dramatically add to the cost of a lift! While a single Rancho 9000 sells for
considerably less than $100 dollars, some race quality shocks run upwards of
$1000 a piece!
