AMP Research PowerStep Smart Series Running Board # 86254-01A is designed for use on 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado GMC Sierra trucks. These automatic, electric-powered running boards instantly extend when you open your door and retract out of sight when the doors close. This designes provides for improved ground clearance, aerodynamics and appearance. Its sleek design, all-weather performance and legendary reliability set the industry standard. PowerStep has die-cast aluminum alloy components and precision stainless steel pivot pins for rock-solid stability.

Why we like this new SMART Step design...
AMP is constantly trying to improve their products and to make them easier for customers to use. Earlier AMP running boards required the installation of a manual override switch if you wanted to prevent the steps from deploying when a door was opened. Why would you want to override the step? Well if you are in deep snow or mud you may not want your steps to deploy and get damaged or buried. If you are the type of person that likes to pull forward or back up with the door open for better visibility you might not want your steps to deploy and get snagged on something. Maybe you think your kids have it too easy in life and they need to learn how to get into your truck WITHOUT using your fancy running boards. Let's go the other direction... Why would you want to have the steps stay in the deployed position with the doors closed? If you are washing your truck you can use the steps to make cleaning the roof easier. Do you have a roof top box or basket? You can use the steps to make accessing those accessories easier too! Whatever the reason is having the ability to override the steps can be a benefit and having an APP control the features is a cleaner and easier option than installing a wired switch. The same goes for control of the LED lights... now you can control the LED lights on your AMP running boards and turn them on or off manually. Off for stealth... off to help reduce battery draw... or on for better visibility without having to keep a door open. AMP continues to improve their product design and refine and improve their components and this Smart Step is their newest (2022 release date) and best current offering.

AMP # 86254-01A Fitment:
These running boards will fit 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 model year Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. Also fits 2020, 2021 and 2022 2500HD and 3500 series trucks. Does not fit 2019 or earlier 2500HD / 3500 models. This one part number is designed for use on both Double Cab and Crew Cab models. Double Cab models will be required to trim 10" from the boards for proper fitment. Crew Cab models will install the boards "full length" at 79" inches.

Installation Information:
Includes all hardware necessary for installation. Product comes with easy to understand vehicle specific installation instructions. This AMP PowerStep uses the OBD-II port to trigger the steps to deploy or retract which greatly simplifies the wiring and reduces the amount of time it takes to complete the installation.
