Explorer Pro Comp Outer Tie Rod End Kit # 90-40231B is designed to replace worn out steering components on your 2007 - 2021 lifted Toyota Tundra. These Tie Rod Ends are only for use on Toyota Tundra trucks already equipped with a Pro Comp 6" or 7" Stage 1 or Stage 2 Suspension lift system. If your Toyota Tundra has worn out tie rod ends it means your alignment cannot be adjusted and set properly. Worn out parts means bad steering control and can cause uneven tire wear. New parts can help clean up the steering feel and reduce uneven tire wear on your lifted truck!

Important Fitment Information:

You really need to read ALL of this information to ensure you are purchasing the correct part for your Tundra. This Pro Comp Outer Tie Rod set (left and right side) should only be purchased if your lifted Toyota Tundra is already equipped with an existing Pro Comp outer tie rod end. It's possible your Tundra has the OLD kit design that reused the factory Toyota outer tie rod ends. Factory tie rod ends are easy to identify using the picture we've provided in the gallery above. Please note that Pro Comp has offered two very different looking Outer Tie Rod Ends over the years. The older and now discontinued Pro Comp Outer Tie Rod End # 90-4229 was a straight design that is SHORTER than the factory Toyota tie rod end. Pro Comp redesigned their outer Tie Rod Ends to better clear the coil springs and the current parts have a "curved" shape. Here's where you need to pay close attention to what lift your truck currently has: NOT FOR USE ON PRO COMP 4" TOYOTA TUNDRA LIFTS! NOT FOR USE ON PRO COMP LONG TRAVEL SYSTEMS! The 90-40231B is the replacement "kit" that includes 2 outer tie rod ends # 90-40231 (passenger side) & 90-40232 (driver side) and replacement cotter pins. This item is also a direct fit for the discontinued Pro Comp # 90-4229 part number. Please look at the product images we have provided that show where to locate your existing outer tie rod part numbers to confirm what you are purchasing is correct. The hard plastic black protective boot covers must be removed before installation.

Pro Comp Tie Rod End Wear:

A few customers have complained that their recently installed Pro Comp Outer Tie Rod Ends didn't last very long. We've found that most of the premature wear cases were caused by a simple installation failure. A lack of grease. You must PROPERLY GREASE these new tie rod ends before driving the vehicle. You must inject grease through the Zerk fitting AFTER the outer tie rod end is installed on the truck. All of this is outlined in the Pro Comp lift kit installation guide but this information is NOT included in the 90-40231B box. Most installers skip this important step and then blame the part for the early failure.
