Superlift Superunner Steering System Conversion # 1026. Designed to fit 1980-1996 Ford F150 4x4 and Bronco vehicles built on the TTB equipped chassis. This item will NOT fit 2wd models. Lifted Ford trucks and the Bronco are known for their somewhat vague steering feel. On off-camber, or less than ideal driving surfaces, continuous corrective steering input is required to keep the vehicle pointed straight down the road. When the vehicle is raised with a suspension lift the bad steering manners become even worse. To correct these problems the Superlift Superunner Steering System minimizes the tie rod angles and improves the steering tie rod-to-axle beam phasing. That means the tie rod movement will better match the axle beam movement as the suspension compresses and extends. By improving these two factors the steering feel and control is greatly improved.
When the Ford TTB suspension geometry is modified the vehicle can experience excessive toe-in/toe-out variations as the suspension travels up and down. This results in the also famous Ford TTB version of bump-steer. Superlift also recommends that one of their dropped pitman arms be installed to help reduce steering linkage angle when the vehicle has been lifted. The Superlift pitman arm, when used with the Superunner Steering System, further reduces tie rod angles. On most lifted Fords the installation of the Superlift Superunner Steering System and the Superlift Dropped Pitman Arm delivers optimum steering traits.
Please note: This Superlift Superunner Steering System # 1026 is only for use on 1980-1996 Ford F150 4x4 and Bronco vehicles equipped with the Twin Traction Beam suspension AND a 3.5" to 6" suspension lift. This steering system will not function properly on stock height vehicles. The Superlift Dropped Pitman Arm is purchased separately.
